Our History
A dedicated group of seven volunteers secures state and federal funding to support the expansion of health services.
The project forms a Board of Directors, incorporates as the Agricultural Workers Health Project, and hires an executive director.
Hours increase and permanent facilities open in Stockton, Tracy, and Lodi. Solano and Yolo counties are added to the service area.
Channel Medical Center and health centers at Martin Luther King, Jr. and Lawrence elementary schools open. Name changes to Community Medical Centers, Inc.
Vacaville, Hammer Lane, and Manteca sites open, along with an administrative office in Stockton. Staff grows to 350.
Dorothy L. Jones, Mariposa, Weberstown Dental, and Gleason sites open. Services expand to include Healthcare for the Homeless.
Tracy Dental, Tracy Grant Line, and West Lane sites open. Family Medicine Residency is established with Dignity Health. The CMC Recovery Center opens. Staff grows to 700.
CMC adds California Street Pediatrics, Lodi Vine Family Care, and Lodi Vine Pediatrics, increasing the network to 21 sites. Steady growth continues with staff at 800 and counting.
Within three days of the California COVID-19 lockdown, CMC completely changed its model of care to encompass telehealth, drive-thru care, and other tactics to continue caring for patients throughout the first year of the pandemic and beyond.
